As the head of Burness Paull’s innovation function, Sam is an adaptable and dedicated legal technologist and commercial solicitor. Sam specialises in legal technology, change management and fostering a true culture of innovation through the three ‘P’s – People, Processes and Products.
Sam has over 10 years of professional experience spanning a wide range of roles and sectors – from legal advisor in the construction sector, to project manager running various contracts on the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, to his current role as Innovation Manager, Sam has a broad and varied commercial and industrial skill set which is not commonly found in the legal profession.
Outside of his core duties with Burness Paull, Sam sits on the Advisory Board of Lawscot Tech (the Law Society of Scotland’s innovation and legal technology campaign) and is a tutor at Glasgow University School of Law, where he teaches the Legal Innovation & Technology module of the Diploma in Scots Law (a module which he co-wrote in 2018/19).
In his personal life, Sam enjoys making homemade beef and venison jerky, brews his own beer, loves to hike and wild camp with his wife and dog, enjoys DIY (results may vary) and is an avid video gamer.
